LD Update: NASL & USL Pro Game Night; Amateur league playoffs

The Atlanta Silverbacks climbed out of the cellar with a consecutive win, topping the co-leading Puerto Rico Islanders. The loss allowed the San Antonio Scorpions to move alone atop the table with a draw at Fort Lauderdale.

The LA Blues were the lone side to pick up a win on the road Saturday in USL Pro, keeping themselves in the hunt for the postseason. With a five-game win streak, the Charlotte Eagles find themselves in the playoff picture. Leaders Orlando City blanked Rochester, allowing Charleston to move into second with a win over Wilmington.

NORTH AMERICAN SOCCER LEAGUE

Atlanta Silverbacks 2:1 Puerto Rico Islanders - A failed clearance just before the break came to Nico Colaluca, who buried the the opportunity for the advantage. Matt Horth doubled the lead in the 63rd when he volleyed a cross from Jose Burciaga Jr past Richard Martin. With four minutes left Gregory Richardson got onto a long ball, but his tally was not enough to earn the draw. - MORE

Fort Lauderdale Strikers 2:2 San Antonio Scorpions - The two sides exchanged goals through Andy Herron and Pablo Campos, as well as red cards, on the night. Herron gave the hosts the lead in the 28th minute with Campos setting things back to even a half-hour later. San Antonio's Ryan Cochrane picked up a second yellow in the 64th with Alfonso Motagalvan receiving a second himself eight minutes later to leave each side with 10. Herron struck what looked like the winner on a free kick in the 90th minute only to see Campos fire back in stoppage time moments later. - MORE

Charleston Battery 3:1 Wilmington Hammerheads - The Battery took a sixth minute goal from Navion Boyd to the break before Andry Budnyy leveled for Wilmington three minutes into the second half. Dane Kelly restored the advantage with a header at the hour mark and Nicki Paterson added some insurance five minutes later on an effort into the upper corner from 35 yards. - MORE

Orlando City 4:0 Rochester Rhinos - Matt Luzunaris finished a counter from close range 10 minutes in and the defending champions never looked back. Jerome Mechack added a second five minutes later on a quick free kick from Ian Fuller. Defender Rob Valentino headed in a corner in 27th for a three-goal lead at halftime. The only tally of the second half came from the penalty spot via Rodrigo Lopez. - MORE

Charlotte Eagles 2:0 Pittsburgh Riverhounds - After a two-and-a-half hour delay for a storm, things did not get any better for the visitors. In the 33rd minute Nikola Katic was sent off for a dangerous challenge with Cheyne Roberts. The ensuing free kick from 30 yards taken by Mauricio Salles connected with Devon Grousis, who headed it in for the lead. The Eagles capped the night with Chris Salvaggione flicking a ball past Gregory Blum in stoppage time. - MORE

Antigua Barracuda 0:2 LA Blues
- Squaring off in Bradenton, Fla., the visitors broke through in the 25th minute when new addition Max Griffin flicked a Josh Suggs ball past Keita DeCastro. With 14 minutes remaining Bryan Burke connected with Matt Fondy to secure the win. - MORE

PDL News: The postseason opened with the Seattle Sounders U23s advancing from the Northwest's Divisional Round Saturday with a 3-1 victory against city rival Washington Crossfire... In regular season action River City Rovers defeated playoff-bound Michigan Bucks 2-1 to earn their own playoff berth... The Ocala Stampede will play host to the Southern Conference tournament after a 4-0 win Friday evening. 

W-League News: The reigning champion Atlanta Silverbacks will not be defending their title, falling 1-0 on the road to the Charlotte Lady Eagles in a season finale that doubled as the deciding game for the division title.

WPSL News: Two MLS-affiliated clubs clinched postseason berths Friday evening. FC Dallas won the Big Sky South while Salt Lake United won the Big Sky North.
