LD Update: Puerto Rico falls in CCL opener; Hammerhead to Iceland; PDL award finalists

USL PRO: Harrisburg City Islanders 2:4 Orlando City - The Florida club may have already locked up first, but they certainly did not take it easy in Harrisburg. Jamie Watson struck six minutes in. After Garret Pettis equalized in the 10th, Watson would restore the advantage beore the break with his second in the 32nd. In the second half it was Dennis Chin, setting up defender Erik Ustruck with a rebound finish in the 52nd and scoring himself in the 75th to put the match out of reach. James McLaughlin provided a late effort for a rally in the 82nd. - MORE

NASL News: The Puerto Rico Islanders fell, 3-1, in their opening game of the 2012-13 CONCACAF Champions League to El Salvador's Isidro Metapan. Star striker Nicholas Addlery gave the Islanders the initial lead 25 minutes in with an excellent individual effort, but a red card to Jay Needham for striking an opponent with his forearm proved costly as Nicolas Munoz scored three times for the home side.

USL Pro News: The Wilmington Hammerheads released striker Chukwudi Chijindu from the squad so that he could sign with Europa League side Thor AK in Iceland's second division.

PDL News: The league unveiled the finalists for Coach of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Defender of the Year, Rookie of the Year and MVP, which will be announced prior to the championship.
