Fort Lauderdale Strikers 3:2 Puerto Rico Islanders – Someone finally got the better of the Islanders as they just could not stop Aly Hassan in Fort Lauderdale. Hassan tallied the opener in the 35th and added a second two minutes into the second half. Jay Needham buried a corner in the 50th and David Foley scored his third goal in four games in the 62nd to level terms. Hassan, however, continued to be a threat and after a few chances, completed the hat-trick with the winner in the 84th. – More
NASL Suspensions: The league announced additional penalties for red cards handed out April 14 – 11 days ago – in the match between Atlanta and Carolina. In addition to the FIFA-mandated one-match suspension, Atlanta's Nico Colaluca was banned for five games total and Carolina's Brian Ackley will miss two games total. Both players were also fined.
USL Pro Preview: The Charlotte Eagles are on the road for a pair of games against the Barracudas in Antigua Thursday and Saturday. Charlotte won the lone meeting between the two, 2-0, a year ago at home, making this their first trip to the island.
PDL Signings & Friendly: The Sounders U23 added three standout Puget Sound natives that are coming back to Seattle after success collegiately elsewhere, including Portland Timbers MLS Draft pick Doug Herrick... Cascadia rival Portland Timbers U23 announced the addition of four players, including New Zealand youth international and a returning player from the side's 2010 league championship... The Ottawa Fury announced the addition of two players, including club SYL product Chad Bush... The Texas Dutch Lions named their head coach, appointing Robert Maaskant, a former pro player with Holland's FC Emmen, FC Zwolle Excelsior Rotterdam and the SPL's Motherwell. He has previously coached Dutch clubs Willem II and NAC Breda, which reached the knockout rounds of the 2008-09 UEFA Cup and final qualifying round of the 2009-10 Europa League... The Laredo Heat enjoyed a 4-1 preseason victory against the Club America U20 team Tuesday evening.
W-League Signings: A W-League product dating back to the age of 14, WPS player and US international Yael Averbuch returns to the league with the New Jersey Wildcats this summer... North of the border a pair of Canadian internationals are part of a foursome announced as part of the 2012 Vancouver Whitecaps roster.
