LD Update: NASL & USL Pro Game Night; Islanders advance in CFU

The Rochester Rhinos were knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten, leaving just the NASL's Minnesota Stars and fellow USL Pro side Orlando City. All three were in action Thursday and Friday, within three days of victories in the US Open Cup Second Round. The other two played to draws.

Fort Lauderdale Strikers 0:0 Minnesota Stars - The visiting Stars remain unbeaten after eight (4-0-4). Minnesota kept a clean sheet despite rookie Mitch Hildebrandt making hist debut. At the other end Jeff Attinella faced minimal challenges. He saw a Devin Del Do effort ring off the crossbar, and made a quick save on a shot from in the 58th. - MORE

Harrisburg City Islanders 1:0 Rochester Rhinos
- The Rhinos gave up their first goal and perfect record in a draw last week. This week, they were unable to rally again as the offense continues to struggle finding consistent scoring. Three minutes into the second half JT Noone's cross from the left flank was headed on goal by Morgan Langley. Goalkeeper Kristian Nicht nearly made the save only to see it go in off his outstretched hand. - MORE

Orlando City 1:1 Los Angeles Blues - The unbeaten league champions picked up the opening goal 22 minutes in Thursday night when an Anthony Pulis was only partially cleared, allowing Wes Allen to head the ball in from the middle of the penalty area. Three minutes later, though, the visitors answered right back. Bright Dike, who was back from his loan recall with his contracted Portland Timbers for their Valencia friendly Wednesday, beat the Orlando back line and directed a header past Miguel Gallardo off a Carlos Borja cross. - MORE

Puerto Rico advances to CFU Final Four

With an 8-0 victory over host George Town (Cayman Islands) Friday evening, the Islanders joined USL Pro's Antigua Barracuda in the final group of the Caribbean Football Union's club championship with the Trinidad & Tobago duo of Caledonia AIA and W Connection. All four clubs were the teams that were seeded into the Second ROund group phase. The top three teams of the four-team final group advance to the CONCACAF Champions League.

PDL News: The Ocala Stampede added four players to the squad, including a pair from Brazilian side Campinense Club and a third from Clube Nautico Capibaribe... Mark Sherrod of the Portland Timbers U23s was named the Player of the Week, highlighting the league's Team of the Week.

W-League News: On Thursday, the Vancouver Whitecaps played to a 1-1 draw in a friendly against the Canadian National Team... The Player of the Week honor went to Colorado Rush forward Danica Rush, highlighting the league's Team of the Week.
