San Antonio kept hold of first with a narrow victory while the Tampa Bay Rowdies used a showdown for second to leap over the Puerto Rico Islanders. The Carolina RailHawks used a storm-delayed victory against Minnesota to move within two points of the fourth-place side.

An off night for Charleston allowed the Rochester Rhinos to move into second with a victory while the Richmond Kickers, mired mid-table, celebrated Matthew Delicate becoming the team's all-time leading goal scorer with a late goal in a win.

NORTH AMERICAN SOCCER LEAGUE

San Antonio Scorpions 1:0 Fort Lauderdale Strikers - A tackle from behind by Andy Herron left the Strikers a man down since the 34th minute, and the hosts took advantage in the 57th minute when Pablo Campos beat a defender and slipped the ball inside the far post for the win. - MORE

Tampa Bay Rowdies 2:0 Puerto Rico Islanders - The 83-minute wait for kickoff due to lightning was worth it, even though the fans nearly had to wait just as long from the opening whistle before the Rowdies finally got on the board. A cross from Mike Ambersley in the 72nd minute was first-timed past the keeper by Frankie Sanfilippo. Ambersley added one of his own five minutes from time with help from Fafa Picault. - MORE

Atlanta Silverbacks 1:2 FC Edmonton - Eric Wynalda's magic came to an end just a little over an hour into the match when the visitors scored twice in a two-minute span. Just minutes after entering Serisay Barthelemy gave FC Edmonton the lead in the 64th minute. Two minutes later Yashir Pinto blacked a clearance by the keeper and put it past him to double the lead. Atlanta attempted to rally, getting a penalty in the 73rd when Matt Horth, who sent a shot off the post in the 34th, was taken down by Jonathan Joseph-Augustin, who was sent off. Ciaran O'Brien converted from the spot, but that was all Atlanta could muster. - MORE

Carolina RailHawks 1:0 Minnesota Stars - Fans only needed to see the first 10 minutes in Cary as the lone goal of a six-hour affair was put away by Zack Schilawski after a long run from Breiner Ortiz and delivery from Mike Palacio. Two minutes into the second half, the game was halted for lightning, a four-hour delay, before the second half resumed. - MORE

USL PRO

Rochester Rhinos 2:0 Pittsburgh Riverhounds - A nice flick by Isaac Kissi of a Lucas Fernandez cross was put away by JC Banks 10 minutes in to give the hosts control. Fernandez set up the second goal as well, connecting with Andrew Hoxie in the 77th minute. - MORE

Richmond Kickers 2:0 Dayton Dutch Lions - The game was a lot closer than the scoreline as Ryan Heins' opening goal in the 11th minute was off the rebound of Sascha Goerres shot that was stopped. Matthew Delicate became the club's all-time leading scorer in the 90th minute after being fouled in the box, converting a penalty to move past Rob Ukrop. - MORE

In the Western Conference Seattle Sounders U23s edged FC Tucson 2-1 in the final game of the night after host Ventura County Fusion slipped by the Portland Timbers U23s in overtime, 1-0. All four conferences will determine the Semifinal round for next weekend with Friday's winners Austin and Orlando City also playing. - PLAYOFF BRACKET
